Fugley's Hobbies

Here are some of my hobbies... which are brilliant!

My favourite hobby in the world is meal times... in order for this to happen you have to create a huge fuss about an hour before you are ready to eat. I find the best way of achieving this is to either make a whining/road-runneresque type of noise or just get under my people's feet. However this doesn't always work and sometimes you have to do more impressive things, such as untying shoelaces whilst shoes are on feet. Another thing that works is to keep poking people with your paw but if all else fails the best thing to do is put on a sad face and sigh a lot (see photo page).

Another hobby of mine is sniffing... this is best done after meals when you are outside. The best things to sniff are: corners of walls, trees, lamp-posts, anything that looks interesting and other dog's bottoms. In certain circumstances sniffing is not so important, such as on a nice day when your people have plenty of time. The best time to sniff things is during a heavy rainfall or a howling gale... at these times is it best to sniff EVERYTHING! An excellent place to sniff is around park benches as sometimes people leave food there for you to eat... it's best to do this quickly as often your people will shout and take it away from you (People can be weird!). Sometimes at these benches people will be sitting and holding what is known as a 'lunch'. They really like to give 'lunch' away and it tastes just like food... the poking paw technique and sad face are excellent in these circumstances.

A major part of sniffing things is to communicate with other dogs and where I live we have a high tech system called 'Wee-Mail'. You can send and receive Wee-Mails anywhere but Lamp-posts and trees are best.
I also enjoy something called sticks. These come from trees and are usually lying around for me to gather and attempt to eat. Sometimes people will throw these stick and get all excited... I find that by ignoring them and looking blankly the excitement soon wears off.

Finally is my second favourite hobby which is sleeping. This is best done on a sofa or other such comfy place. During the day you have to sleep lightly because you never know when snacks will be prepared... you should always follow people who head towards the kitchen. Apart from sofas, another good place to sleep is on something called a bed. These are spacious, soft and very comfortable... I find that they also help to get mud and dirt off my paws. Occasionally you will find your people in the bed, particularly in the mornings. The greatest way of getting them to vacate the bed is by either laying yourself across their legs. If this fails then it is advisable to to go to the side of the bed with least space and then gently but determinedly shove the person out of the way. In this situation a stretching and clawing manoeuvre is usually effective but remember that you can always use a 'coughing fit' as a back up... this is more effective when done directly into the face.
